Why am I experiencing slow connection speeds?
If you are experiencing a slow connection, you can test your speed by visiting the following Internet Speed Test | Fast.com. This tool will help you assess your current internet speed.
If your speed shows slower than expected, try following the below steps:
Step 1 – Restart Your Devices
Restart your router
- Unplug the power from your router and modem.
- Wait for about 30 seconds.
- Plug them back in and wait for them to fully restart.
Restart your computer or device
- Sometimes the issue lies with your device, rebooting it can help.
Step 2 – Check Wi-Fi Signal Strength
- Move closer to your router to see if the speed improves. Walls and other obstructions can weaken Wi-Fi signals.
Step 3 – Limit Connected Devices
- Disconnect any devices that you’re not currently using. Too many devices connected to the same network can slow down your internet speed.
Step 4 – Check for Background Applications
- Ensure that no applications or updates are running in the background on your device that may be using bandwidth (like video streaming, downloads or backups).
Step 5 – Check Your Router Placement
- Ensure your router is placed away from metal objects and any electronic devices that might interfere with the signal.
